Taiwan strengthens COVID-19 testing capacity with new screening & reporting systems

Contact tracing self-reporting system to simplify contact tracing procedures of health departments

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) in Taiwan has launched a contact tracing self-reporting system for confirmed cases. After confirmed cases submit their personal information, the one-time link shared with them will no longer be valid, and editing or filling in information will not be allowed to reduce cybersecurity risks.

In addition, CECC is drawing up relevant response measures to avoid overcrowding in emergency departments by people visiting hospitals for screening.

Emergency and designated hospitals shall establish epidemic prevention (fever) clinics to treat patients based on their severity and provide related assessments, testing and consultation services for mild or asymptomatic cases who test positive with at-home rapid test kits.

Local governments shall set up community testing stations based on the number of cases in their respective cities or counties.

Hospitals should implement relevant responsive mechanisms, scale back services, and deploy additional workers to support testing, reporting and management of available beds.
