On her inaugural visit to Malaysia, Elizabeth Truss, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom (UK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysian Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
The MOU would provide opportunities for Malaysian doctors and health personnel, especially those who have completed their training or studies in the UK, to serve with its National Health Service (NHS).
Elizabeth Truss also met YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Putrajaya.
The two ministers took stock of the progress in the long-standing relations between Malaysia and the UK, and potential areas of collaboration in the post-pandemic era.
In addition, Malaysia is also exploring collaboration with the UK in the field of vaccine research and development following the upgradation of the Malaysian Genome Institute into the Malaysian Genome and Vaccine Institute recently.
