Thailand, Japan collaborate on bioremediation

Singapore: BIOTEC, NITE Biological Resource Center (NBRC) and Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University signed a project agreement to collaborate on "Assessment of microbial community structures and capability on degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) in flood affected river sediment for bioremediation".

The project received funding under the J-Rapid program, which is sponsored by Japan Science and Technology Agency and NSTDA. It aims search for the potential of indigenous microbes on PAH degradation in river sediments as a result of 2011 major flood for bioremediation application in the future.
