SNOMED CT (Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine -- Clinical Terms) is a standardized, multilingual vocabulary of clinical terminology that is used by physicians and other health care providers for the electronic exchange of clinical health information.

The primary function of SNOMED CT is to encode information used in the health information system, and record the clinical data effectively hence enables analysis of data that is usually lost in the sea of unstructured data.

Ministry of Health (MOH) at Malaysia uses SNOMED CT back -end for the development of MyHarmony application, one of the modules for Malaysia Health Data warehouse ( MyHDW) which was developed together with local technology partner , MiMOS Berhad.

The primary function of MyHarmony is to harmonize and codify unstructured data such as discharge summary .

Currently , MOH is working to expand the use of SNOMED CT for MyHarmony applications by expanding the development of reference set (refse) for Oral Health , Pharmacy and Pathology .
