Singapore: Apollo's Medical e-learning initiative, Medvarsity, has tied up with University of New South Wales (UNSW),to offer postgraduate diploma courses in healthcare management through the e-learning mode to the practicing medical professionals in India.
According to Mr Dilip Mathai, dean, Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, the collaboration aimed at focusing on infectious disease management as there is a dearth of specialists in this area apart from a huge knowledge gap that exists in dealing with these disease situations in the country.
The courses will be available for practicing medical professionals outside India as well, particularly in countries where Apollo has a presence through its hospital network.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Australian university will prepare course modules and learning material and Apollo would provide contact programs including hands-on training for those who enroll for the e-learning courses.
"Through these initiatives," said Mr Mathai, "We aim to increase awareness in rural areas about infectious disease management where a good clinical examination would result in an early diagnose of such diseases."
"UNSW and Apollo knowledge team have worked together to develop an exceptional curriculum," Professor Peter Smith, UNSW dean of medicine, said. The Medvarsity is also discussing with other hospitals to make them partner in offering these courses.
