WHO recommends annual vaccination against flu
Nearly 23,000 cases of swine flu have been reported in India this year
Singapore: World Health Organization recently said that annual vaccination is the most effective method to curb swine flu, a seasonal influenza epidemic that claimed nearly 1,200 people in India, so far, this year.
The agency stated, "It is recommended that people get a flu vaccine during seasons when drifted viruses are circulating. It is because vaccination can prevent some infections and can reduce serious ailments that can lead to hospitalization and death."
WHO further mentioned that the flu vaccine is designed to offer protection against three or four other influenza viruses which may be circulating in that season. With nearly 23,000 cases of H1N1 reported from the country, the organization has urged member nations to step up efforts and prevent outbreaks.
