Singapore: British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) recently announced plans to establish new headquarters in Singapore to manage its Asia operations. The company further said that it expects vibrant growth in Asia in comparison to the rest of the world.

GSK's chief executive, Mr Andrew Witty, said, "While we expect it to be a bit slower going forward than it was five years ago, we still think Asia to one of the top markets for pharma sales."

GSK has over 700 office-based employees in Singapore and expects an additional 100 roles to move into the country as the headquarters nears completion. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2016.

The eight-storey, nearly 15,000 square meters facility will have capacity for up to 1,000 employees across GSK's pharmaceuticals, vaccines and consumer healthcare businesses. The new headquarters will support GSK's business in Asia, attract expertise to boost innovation and help in easy execution of Asia operations.
