Vela Diagnostics collaborates with Eppendorf
Singapore: Singapore's emerging company, Vela Diagnostics and Eppendorf have agreed to jointly develop an IVD RNA/DNA extraction platform.
The Sentosa SX system is based on Eppendorf's world class pipetting and liquid handling technology and Vela's broad IVD and workflow solutions. Following the agreement, VelaDx and Eppendorf scientists and engineers have customized Eppendorf's epMotion system with an efficient diagnostic workflow and features exclusive to VelaDx.
The enhancements focused on gaining workflow efficiency and IT connectivity, while minimizing potential errors and cross contamination arising from manual set up processes. The Sentosa platform is uniquely able to set up and simultaneously carry out four different tests per run. Commenting on the joint development, VelaDx CEO Michael Tillmann said, “Our collaboration merges an already robust epMotion with revolutionary system enhancements. The new customized hardware and software on the Sentosa system will enhance workflow efficiency in laboratories and improve sample traceability. It will be easier for lab staff and they can maximize their time in other value adding tasks.â€
The new Sentosa extraction platform connects with VelaDx's PCR detection instruments. The Company's Sentosa workflow systems and Sentosa test kits will be launched in selected Asian and European markets in Q3 2012. The Group is also making submissions for regulatory approval in the US.
