APACMed welcomes its 100th member organisation

31 July 2018 | News

APACMed brings together traditional global players in the medical devices and IVD sectors, as well as start-ups and SMEs, service providers, and national industry associations from across the region.

Singapore – Only three years after its official launch in 2015, the Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed), marked a historic milestone, enrolling its 100th member organisation.

Founded in 2014 by nine corporate members, APACMed, which aims to improve standards of care for patients across Asia Pacific, seeks diversity not only across the technologies it represents, but also among the types of companies and organisations that constitute its membership base. APACMed brings together traditional global players in the medical devices and IVD sectors, as well as start-ups and SMEs, service providers, and national industry associations from across the region.

APACMed strives to improve access to high quality healthcare for patients by working in close collaboration with regulators, policy makers, healthcare providers and payers to develop policies and put forward recommendations which ensure optimal care pathways for patients, from diagnosis to treatment. APACMed promotes a cost effective, value-based approach to healthcare by demonstrating the value of innovative medical technology in improving the quality of care and outcomes.

Fredrik Nyberg, Chief Executive Officer, APACMed said: “We are very proud to welcome on board our 100th member organisation! The Association’s impressive growth is testimony to the collective benefit of our regional platform for advocacy and engagement. APACMed’s success is also down to the unwavering commitment of all our volunteer members: from our thirteen-strong Board of Directors, to almost two hundred active member representatives responsible for driving the Association’s work across five Functional Committees, with the support of our talented Secretariat Team”.

Simranjit Singh, CEO Guardant Health Asia, Middle East & Africa, a pioneer in non-invasive cancer diagnostics or liquid biopsies, the Association’s official 100th member explained: “The impetus for us to join APACMed is really two-fold. Firstly, we want to be part of this collective industry voice and play a role in developing unified solutions and shaping policies that address complex, fragmented healthcare markets in Asia Pacific. With new regulatory approval pathways in many markets there is a need for greater engagement.

In addition, it is incredibly valuable to be part of this platform for knowledge exchange, and fully benefit from a host of members services, be it timely industry news; regulatory and policy analysis; thematic events, and unparalleled networking opportunities. We look forward to collaborating with a broad range of actors in the medical technology ecosystem to jointly achieve our industry’s mission to meet the vast unmet patient needs across the region”.
