Nippon Kayaku and Celltrion Healthcare Japan K.K. have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Comprehensive Collaboration for the Stable Supply of Biopharmaceuticals.
The MoU establishes a framework for strengthening the long-term collaborative relationship between the two companies to support the stable supply of the Celltrion Group's biopharmaceutical products in the Japanese market.
Through this collaboration, the parties aim to further reinforce the manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply infrastructure necessary to ensure a stable supply of high-quality biopharmaceutical products to patients and healthcare providers across Japan.
Under the MoU, the parties will continue discussions regarding the target products, scope of collaboration, and allocation of responsibilities, with the specific terms and conditions to be defined in separate agreements to be concluded in the future.
As Japan's population continues to age and healthcare expenditures increase, improving the sustainability of the healthcare system while maintaining high standards of medical care has become an increasingly important priority. In therapeutic areas such as oncology and autoimmune diseases, where high-cost biopharmaceuticals play a critical role, ensuring a stable supply of biopharmaceuticals, including biosimilars, is essential to providing uninterrupted treatment for patients.
By combining the Celltrion Group's global expertise and proven track record in the development, manufacturing, and supply of biopharmaceuticals and biosimilars with Nippon Kayaku's extensive experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality control, and stable product supply in Japan, the two companies believe this collaboration will further strengthen Japan's biopharmaceutical supply chain and contribute to broader patient access to high-quality treatment options.
