Japan-based Hodogaya Chemical has established a subsidiary to promote the nucleic acid therapeutics CDMO business. In its Mid-term Management Plan “CODE/CHORD 2030,”, the company identified its entry into the nucleic acid therapeutics CDMO business as a new growth driver following its OLED materials business.
In the biomaterials field, the Hodogaya Chemical Group has leveraged its established manufacturing infrastructure and high agility in small-batch, high-variety production to develop proprietary raw materials and expand the contract synthesis of research-grade and non-GMP oligonucleotides through SFC Co (South Korea)
The new company has been established to leverage these technologies and expertise and to advance the commercialisation of the CDMO business, with the aim of providing integrated services from raw materials to GMP manufacturing in the field of nucleic acid therapeutics.
Going forward, the company plans to construct a new building at its Koriyama Plant equipped with manufacturing facilities and cleanrooms for the production of drug substances for nucleic acid therapeutics, to provide one-stop services to customers in Japan and overseas, including academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies.
