Fiji's health minister Mr Jone Usamate inks MOU with Chinese vice health minister Mr Sun Zhigan (Pc: www.fijitimes.com)

Singapore: In a bid to improve the healthcare scenario of Fiji islands, the country's health minister Mr Jone Usamate has inked an MOU with the Chinese vice health minister Mr Sun Zhigan, to provide training and technical assistance to Fiji's health officials.

Mr Usamate said that there was an acute shortage of healthcare professionals in the country which led to increase in health problems. "Our acting permanent secretary is liaising with his counterpart in China to identify specific areas that are focused on improving the health sector in Fiji," he added.

Mr Usamate also said that in collaboration with Chinese experts, Fiji's health ministry will soon be able to deliver excellent services to the people. He also thanked China for its involvement in developing Fiji's health sector.
