Singapore: In a bid to improve healthcare in the Carribean country, Taiwan has helped its ally, St Kitts and Nevis to set up a new health information system at the Joseph N France General Hospital, a major hospital on the island of St Kitts.

The project was carried out by the Taipei-based International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF). Under the project, the hospital has seen an expansion of its operation, out-patient services, pharmacy and medical databases.

Mr Weber Shih, secretary general of Taiwan ICDF, said that the system, aimed at improving the delivery of healthcare services and will further enhance the efficiency of the hospital's operations, thus minimizing human error in paperwork.

Mr Shih further said that an identity card will be issued for St Kitts and Nevis nationals for use in the country's public hospitals and to avail other medical facilities.
