Bangkok to adopt Japanese technology to treat cancer

Singapore: Thailand hospital is planning to introduce Japanese cancer therapy technology using a heavy ion beam to treat cancer. The therapy involves targeting a beam of heavy ions at cancerous tumors. The hospital has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan.

For the first time a Japanese technology for heavy ion radiotherapy will be transferred abroad. The therapy causes minimum damage to host's healthy cells. The therapy is found to be effective in treating liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, and in osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer.

Reports from close sources said that the project will be a good opportunity to show the world, the potential of Japan's medical technology. The consultants from Universal Strategy Institute LLC will support Bangkok Hospital in the installation and operation of the facility, and will help train doctors and technicians.
