Singapore: Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO)'s chief operating officer Mr Scott Whitaker has been appointed as president of the BIO International Convention.
"The BIO International Convention is the biotechnology community's largest and most important annual event. To ensure its continuing status as the biotech event well into the future, I have made changes designed to enhance our Convention's strategic value to our members, attendees, state and federal government officials, and international partners," said Mr Jim Greenwood, president and CEO, BIO.
"As the world's premier biotech event, the BIO International Convention must evolve along with the growing and changing needs of this dynamic community of scientists and entrepreneurs. The convention plays a key role in helping our industry grow and succeed in its mission of healing, fueling and feeding the world. As we begin preparations for our return to San Diego in June of next year, we will ensure that the convention remains fresh and focused in support of this important mission," said Mr Whitaker.
Mr Robbi Lycett, senior VP, conventions and conferences, BIO, who will continue to manage the production of the convention, added that, "We have conducted extensive opinion research and found that our members, attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors have new convention wants and needs. With Scott's help, we will be able to implement exciting changes within the convention that will better deliver the experience they seek."
Mr Rachel King, chair, BIO, said that, "Bringing together the unique skills of both Scott and Robbi will enhance the BIO International Convention experience for all attendees, exhibitors and sponsors. This strategic partnership will add value to our industry's most important annual event and ensure that the BIO International Convention remains strong for years into the future."
