Singapore: Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park under Taiwan's Council of Agriculture (COA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Germany's leading poultry vaccine supplier Lohmann Animal Health. The MOU that was signed in Taipei will bring together both the parties on biotechnology development
Mr Huang Chin-cheng, director general of the Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park under the COA, signed the agreement with Mr Bruno Kaesler, managing director of Lohmann Animal Health GmbH in the presence of COA head Mr Chen Bao-ji and vice premier Mr Mao Chi-kuo.
"With the high level of know-how and the focused result-orientation of the scientists here, we are committed to converting these research products into commercial success. The range of new vaccines in development and the innovative technology involved represent a great market potential," Mr Kaesler said at a press conference.
He added that Lohmann Animal Health also intends to invest a minimum of $12.82 million in a factory in Taiwan to produce poultry vaccines initially for the Asian market. "Work on the factory should begin in the second half of the year and take a year or two to build and another four years will be needed to get approvals to sell products in Europe," he explained.
