BioAsia 2013 to focus on biosimilars, biologics

Bangalore: The 10th edition of BioAsia, the flagship annual biotech event of the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, will be held from January 28-30, 2013, at the Hyderabad International Convention Center, India.

BioAsia 2013, which will provide a comprehensive and dynamic global forum for life science leaders, will be based on the cutting-edge theme of 'Technolgies.Business.Next'. The event will explore the future of life sciences and industry trends like biologics and biosimilars. BioAsia 2013 will feature technical sessions with regulators from different countries. About 20 regulator-representatives from 15 countries have already confirmed participation.

Dr PV Appaji, director general, Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil), said that, "The global market for biosmilars will reach $10 billion by 2015 and India can tap a good part of it. This is an exclusive focus area in this year's BioAsia. Presently, we account for only two-to-three percent of the global biosimilars market and by 2015, our share could reach over 20 percent."
