Singapore, May 29, 2009: Bio Singapore in association with TiE Singapore is organizing a half day program on how Singapore can optimize the process of getting therapeutics out of the clinic and into the patient on June 2 at Matrix, Biopolis.
For the first time, BioSingapore is bringing together some of the key stakeholders within Singapore in the area of Translational Medicine: research, healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies, government and institutional investors, legal experts and entrepreneurs/ life science start-ups.
Prof Sir David Lane, Chief Scientist, A*STAR will deliver a key note address at 1.30 pm. Then Dr Philip Wong, National Heart Center, RDU; Dr Carl Firth, Director, Head of Asia Healthcare, Merrill Lynch; and Dr Teoh Yee Leong, Director, Clinical R&D and Medical Affairs, GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals will share their views on healthcare, finance and pharma. Finally there will be a panel discussion on “Engaging Stakeholders in Accelerating Translational Medicine” in which Mr Karen Koh, Director EDB Investments and Mr Sat Pal Khattar, Chairman, KhattarWong are also participating.
In addition, BioSingapore and TiE Singapore are formalizing collaboration in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding, stating their intention to jointly leverage on each other’s strengths to further strengthen, promote and support Singapore’s entrepreneurial and financial ecosystem.
