Singapore, April 29, 2008: Mr Wong Kan Seng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Singapore, launched the new Contact Singapore, a job portal. The new Contact Singapore is a strategic alliance of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to attract global talent to work, invest and live in Singapore.
The new Contact Singapore will be a one-stop centre for those who wish to pursue a career in Singapore as well as business leaders and entrepreneurs keen to invest or initiate new business activities in Singapore. It would mount extensive efforts to reach out to global talent, including Overseas Singaporeans.
A new Contact Singapore job portal, with available jobs from Singapore-based companies spanning from the technology to financial sectors, was created together with other economic agencies and industry partners. Jobs could be viewed and resumes submitted online by anyone wishing to work in Singapore.
Mr Wong Kan Seng said, "Singapore has succeeded through the years because we have harnessed talent well. We develop our own local talent through a good education system and good career opportunities from a growing economy. We keep our Overseas Singaporeans plugged in with the emerging career opportunities back home. At the same time, we welcome global talent who seek to make a career, invest and do business here. And even as we enhance our efforts to reach out to and attract talent to Singapore, we must also ensure that Singapore is a great place to live, for our global talent to sink roots and call Singapore home. It is not just economics; it is about growing the Singapore community and sharing in a common future. The new Contact Singapore, with its focus on talent attraction, is a critical node in the continuum of our Whole-of-Government efforts to this end."
