LCRA launches BioQuizitive 2010 in India

Bangalore, Aug 27, 2010:  Lotus Clinical Research Academy (LCRA), Bangalore, India, a provider of learning, consultancy, research, and analytical services to life science companies, has launched BioQuizitive 2010 – The national level life sciences quiz. BioQuizitive is India's first national-level quiz competition in the life sciences space and is open only for life science professionals. The competition will be conducted by well-known quiz-master Mr Prakash Subbarao of the Bangalore Quiz Group.

BioQuizitive will stretch over a period of 22 days and will travel across Indian cities of Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bangalore, the primary pharma hubs in the country. The first leg of  BioQuizitive 2010 kicks off in Mumbai on September 4, 2010 and moves to Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bangalore on September 5, 18 and 25 respectively. The winners from the regional rounds will qualify for the national finals to be held at Bangalore on September 25, 2010.

Commenting on the launch of  BioQuizitive 2010, Mr Sudhir Pai, Managing Director of LCRA, said, “The launch of  BioQuizitive is an extension of LCRA's commitment to engaging and enhancing an individual's knowledge, awareness, horizon and opportunities available in pharma, clinical research, healthcare, biotechnology, medical technology and allied fields of life science. BioQuizitive aims to offer a platform for talented quizzing along with fun-filled sharing and celebration of knowledge. The competition will be an annual affair and would be extended to other cities in the coming years.”

He further said that as a social responsive initiative LCRA will work to create awareness in the public and doctors about the side effects of drugs and timely reporting of this to the authorities. LCRA also has plans to equip the hospitals in tier-two cities in India for conducting clinical trials. This would involve training professionals and helping hospitals to set up trials.

Dr Saral Thangam, Managing Director of Bangalore-based Norwich Clinical Services, who was also present at the launch of  BioQuizitive, said that this initiative will facilitate enhancement of knowledge amongst life science professionals.

The national winning team team will get a cash prize of `2,00,000 (about $4,270).
