Singapore, March 26, 2009: Dr. Jyh-Hong Chen, the Superintendent of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Hospital in Tainan, Taiwan was conferred with identification by NCKU President, Dr. Michael M.C. Lai, for his contribution on school administration along with Dr. Woei-Shyan Lee, the Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department, who served as the Secretary General of NCKU. NCKU has won the first place of “2008 Service Quality Award” from Executive Yuan, Taiwan and NCKU Hospital won the “2008 Personnel Innovative Award” and “2008 Outstanding Manager Award” from Executive Yuan as well.
NCKU was the only university recognized with the medal for “2008 Service Quality Award” among more than one hundred universities in Taiwan. Dr. Re-Chen Cheng, the Minister of Education, will confer this prestigious medal to NCKU on April 2.
In Dr. Jyh-Hong Chen’s endeavors to tap new resources and reduce expenses, the NCKU Hospital, located in the southern Taiwan with barren financial revenue, has observed its annual profits mounted 70% more than last year, top of all public hospitals in Taiwan.
However, Dr. Chen emphasizes more on patients’ benefit than hospital’s profits. NCKU Hospital always puts patients in its mind and aims to be the best provider of the medical service of the greatest quality. That is, the excellent performance of the NCKU Hospital was reflected from the hard work of all employees and staffs, not in expenses of patients’ cares and benefits.
