Singapore, Aug 25, 2009: Proteomics International, a provider of protein analyses, has said that it has received certification under ISO 17025 by Australia’s accreditation agency, National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA). According to the company, this is the first time a proteomics service laboratory achieved this status.
The accreditation for compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory standard extends beyond the boundaries of single protein analysis to the mapping and comparison of whole systems, peptide sequencing of unknown proteins, and biomarker detection.
The company’s Managing Director Dr Richard Lipscombe said “With the astonishing growth of protein drugs and the biosimilars market we wanted the accreditation as an assurance to all our clients that work is carried out to the highest standard. It is essential for both fundamental research and fast product approvals in new markets.”
The standard is the most widely used laboratory benchmark for US Federal testing facilities, and will give assurance to existing and new clients that Proteomics’s laboratories meet stringent conditions and will be audited annually. “The laboratories, its staff and senior management have been assessed by independent experts in process, proteomics and mass spectrometry and the company has passed a significant milestone.” Dr Lipscombe said.
