Singapore, Jan 18, 2009: Veterinary pharmaceutical company Virbac has launched Virbac Animal Health, Biotechnology R&D Center Asia at Science Park in Pathumthani province, Thailand. The new R&D center is expected to develop new biotechnology products such as probiotics for aquaculture, improve livestock farming environment and bio remediation for aquaculture environment as well as assist in follow up of clinical studies.
Located in the Tenant Zone of the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) the new R&D center is also interested in natural resources and microorganism for which BIOTEC has a good collection.
“Virbac prides itself on innovation,” said Marc Le Poul, Area RDL Manager, Asia. “The new R&D center will act as a catalyst to increase research collaboration in the area of animal health with local and regional partners. There is also the other dimension of increasing our networking activities. We want to be considered in the region as a “partner of choice” for research and business collaboration. We are quite well-known in Europe but we need to do more in the region”.
Virbac’s global portfolio covers six countries; Australia, France, Mexico, Thailand, the US, and Vietnam. Its large range of vaccines and pharmaceuticals prevent and treat the principal pathologies of companion and food producing animals.
