Bangalore, Mar 17, 2010: Technology Vision Group (TVG) has announced a collaboration with India-based MMActiv, ABLE and the Vision Group on Biotechnology to produce BioPartnering India (BPI) at Bangalore India Bio, India's largest biotechnology event, which is scheduled on June 2-4, 2010. These combined events offer delegates the opportunities for partnering in India.

BPI is a three-day conference and tradeshow. Several days of face-to-face networking at BPI combined with access to biopartnering before and after the events offers delegates a three-month business development experience. Last year's event saw the participation of more than 675 delegates who scheduled and attended 600 meetings and in 2010 the event is expected to attract a larger international audience from the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and research industries.

India's biotechnology industry is predicted to reach $5 bn by next year and double to $10 bn by the year 2015, according to Ms Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, a leading figure in India's biotech industry. Many big pharma players are already developing strategic alliances and collaborative research programs with Indian partners and this trend is set to continue.

Dr Robert Lee Kilpatrick, Partner at TVG, commented, "India is important because of a concept called affordable innovation. It is a place you can go to as a biotech company, you can do research, development and clinical trials for a fraction of the cost to do similar work in the US and Europe."

Mr Ashok Kumar C Manoli, Principal Secretary for Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science and Technology, Karnataka, India, believes that the objective of the event is to get international companies to collaborate with Indian companies. This in turn will enable Indian companies to have an international platform for their business and showcase their products to a wide range of potential customers. After becoming an IT bellwether, India is now shifting its focus to the most promising industry of the future, biotechnology.

Based on a selection procedure, qualifying companies will have the opportunity to give a podium presentation highlighting its products and partnering goals. This will be an opportunity to introduce the company, its key technologies, products and clinical developments, as well as to state the company's partnering and financing goals to an international audience.

With over 800 delegates and 5,000 business visitors from India and across the globe, the international tradeshow at Bangalore India Bio 2010 is expected to be the largest gathering for the biotech industry in India. The tradeshow provides a venue for meaningful interaction and is an excellent platform for big industries as well as starts-ups to showcase their technologies, products, research and services.
