TNT reports eight fold increase in Singapore healthcare business
Narayan Kulkarni

Singapore, April 16, 2008: Riding on the growth of healthcare industry in Asia, TNT Express, one of the key express integrators, and a leading service provider for the healthcare industry, announced that its healthcare business in Singapore has grown eight-fold in the past four years.

The release noted that TNT Express currently dominates over 60 percent of the outsourced R&D logistics for the life science industry and its healthcare business grew by 68 percent last year, making it the fastest growing sector for the international express integrator in Singapore. The growth is most pronounced in specialist sectors such as Clinical Express.

Mr Damien Tan, Managing Director, TNT Singapore said, “Clinical Express saw the largest growth in our healthcare business. TNT was among the pioneers in this sector, and we continually invest in infrastructure, solutions and services for the industry.”

He further said, “The healthcare sector in Singapore and Asia has seen unprecedented growth in recent years. As businesses start to expand their operations and services throughout the region, it is inevitable that they look for means to streamline their operations and increase their speed to market. The success of TNT’s Life Sciences Express Hub in Singapore (opened in March last year), and the continued growth of the healthcare sector for TNT is a clear indication that Singapore has a key role to play in the evolution of the industry in the region. With our established expertise in and knowledge of the industry, TNT is well-positioned to maintain our market-leading position for Healthcare as we continue to offer bespoke one-stop shop solutions to meet all our customers’ unique business needs.”

In addition to its tailored distribution centres, TNT’s continued focus on networks ensures that it retains a leading position in the healthcare sector in the region. Last week, TNT announced it will invest euro 100 million (estimated S$215 million) over the coming five years to strengthen its network coverage, connectivity and infrastructure. TNT also announced the landing of TNT’s Boeing 747-400 ER Freighter in Singapore to enhance its freight offering between Europe, China and Southeast Asia.
