Bangalore, May 15, 2008: Japan’s second largest pharma company Daiichi Sankyo has tied up with Glaxo Smith Kline Pharmaceuticals Limited in India to sell its anti-hypertension drug and combination products in India.
A company release said GSK would sell antihypertensive agent Benitec in India from June 2008.
Daiichi, an $8 billion giant, started its India business in March 2007 and is in process of starting a full-fledged business in India. "With this launch, we will make the entry into India and pave the way for many more research products to be introduced in the future," said V Vijayendran, president, Daiichi Sankyo India Pharma.
In another related news Daiichi Sankyo has said that its European subsidiary Daiichi Sankyo Europe GmbH has started the Turkish subsidiary Daiichi Sankyo Ilac, Tikaret Ltd., Sti in Istanbul.
The release said the business of this company would initially focus on sales of Evista, the medication for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
