Aurobindo gets FDA nod for anti-depressant

Bangalore, Nov 10, 2008: India-based drug-maker Aurobindo Pharma has received United States Food and Drug Administration's (USFDA) approval for Sertraline Hydrochloride oral concentrate.

The company will manufacture and market the drug, which is primarily used in the treatment of depression and anxiety.

Aurobindo now has 82 Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) approvals from the USFDA. Earlier in October, the company received approval to manufacture and market Risperidone Tablets in the US.

This drug is the generic equivalent of Pfizer's Zoloft oral concentrate, used for treating depression.
