Korean firm completes hypertension drug trial

Singapore, Feb 08, 2010: Boryung Pharmaceutical, one of South Korea's largest pharmaceutical companies, has completed its final clinical test on a new drug that will help treat patients with high blood pressure.

The drug, Fimasartan, showed its efficacy in reducing blood pressure among patients while not causing any significant side effects, noted the company release.

According to the company, if the drug is approved by the government for marketing, it would mark the 15th new medicine developed by a local drug manufacturer in South Korea. The drug will likely to hit the market in the third quarter of this year.
