Singapore, Aug 6, 2010: Expanding its product portfolio, Japan-based Shimadzu Corporation, engaged in the development of advance technologies, has announced the launch of Nexera, an Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (UHPLC) during Separation Science event held in Singapore on Aug 5 and 6, 2010.
Talking about the product, Mr. Shuzo Maruyama, General Manager, LC Business Unit, Life Science Business Department, Shimadzu Corporation said, “The name Nexera, itself says next era. We have incorporated the core competencies of Shimadzu and have developed LC with high speed, high resolution, flexible and environment friendly. The earlier version of HPLC had some limitations and Nexera is designed to overcome those limitations and is much more reliable and stable.”
Highlighting the green concept of HPLC, Mr Maruyama mentioned, “Right now in the HPLC world there is no green HPLC application. It means conventionally in HPLC, organic mobile phases are used, but is not environment friendly. Nexera has the capability to use water as mobile instead of solvent. It is environment friendly has huge potential in the future.”
Shimadzu will sell the products internationally in US, Europe and Japan. In Asia market, that excludes China, Japan and Korea, the company is targeting to sell around 100 units by end of the year.
The company is aiming at the pharma market. According to the company, it has already got several orders for the product.
The company states that it has 30 per cent market share in Asia Pacific, and it does not find any challenges in reaching to its target market. The product will help in increasing the brand image of the company, he added.
