Singapore, June 4, 2008: According to GfK Retail and Technology, healthcare has been receiving more attention in Taiwan and as a result, Personal Diagnostic products such as Blood Pressure Monitors (BPM) have had more focus in recent years. As an ageing population is an increasing issue, GfK foresees BPMs and other home medical device products will have a prosperous future.
GfK Retail and Technology that tracks sales of Personal Diagnostic products within the Small Domestic Appliances sector internationally said, Blood Pressure Monitors are one of the most popular products within this category due to increases in diabetes and hypertension diseases in Taiwan.
According to the GfK, Taiwan retail audit report, which covered 50% of retail sales of Blood Pressure Monitors in terms of measuring location, 66% of consumers use Upper-Arm models and the remainder use Wrist models. This could be due to the different usages, since the price for both models is similar. Memory function seems to be an important feature for Taiwanese consumers - over 82% chose models with a memory function.
