Suven gets product patents in Korea, Mexico

Bangalore, April 2, 2008: Indian biopharma company Suven Life Science has received two product patents in Mexico and Korea for two of their new chemical entities (NCEs) for treating neurodegenerative disorders. These patents are valid until 2023.

The granted patents are achieved through the exclusive internal discovery research efforts, the company said. Products out of these inventories, which are in pre-clinical development, may be out-licensed at the stage of clinical phase-I or phase-II stage.

The granted claims of the patents include the class of selective 5-HT compounds discovered by Suven and are being developed as therapeutic agents and are useful in the treatment of cognitive impairment associated with neurodegenerative disorders like attention deficient hyperactivity, Alzheimer's, Parkinson, Schizophrenia and Huntington's.
