Taiwan has reported nearly 25 outbreaks of avian flu in recent times
Singapore: Latest reports from the Taiwan health Ministry reported that nearly three highly pathogenic avian flu viruses are circulating in the country, resulting in nearly 25 outbreaks. The rising cases has led to the destruction of nearly 165,510 domestic poultry.
Taiwan has notified the WHO of the soaring cases of avian influenza virus in the country. In addition to Taiwan, South Korea and South Vietnam has also reported of avian flu cases and massive culling of poultry in recent weeks.
The latest outbreaks prolong a string of avian flu episodes that have surfaced this winter in Asia, Europe, North America, and Africa. Last week the World Health Organization said the diversity and geographic extent of recent avian flu outbreaks are greater than at any time since the debut of modern surveillance methods.
