Singapore: US-based GENiSYSS has announced an Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign from September 26 to November 2, to launch a device that can help people store their DNA with digital memory and custom software. Family DNA for up to eight people can be stored in a capsule-like enclosure.
The company said in a statement that due to increased physical and environmental stress the human DNA undergoes several mutations. It is important to gather and store the "pre-exposure DNA" to treat a number of ailments that rise due to DNA mutations.
GENiSYSS explained that a simple pinprick procedure will yield a droplet of blood that contains the DNA. Each capsule had four to eight storage wells that can protect the DNA at room temperature. It comes with access to a corresponding platform, upon which families can upload their DNA stats along with memories, photos, videos and important documents like the family tree.
These capsules can help families store their DNA at various points in their life. The Family Vault provides 4 GB of memory and 8 wells for safe DNA storage on a thumb-drive-size device.
