Singapore: Sigma-Aldrich has announced a collaboration with Uniersity of Michigan Medical school's Vector Core group. With this new gene editing partnership, the core is to get access to Sigma's CRISPR technology, experimental design consultation, and dedicated gene editing bioinformaticians. With this partnership, the entire Medical school will have easy access to the company's bioinformatics, design and production resources.
The company already has an initiative with the university, led by assistant professor Chad Brenner, that involves constructing a large library of Sigma CRISPRs for precision study of 100 uncommon genes that cause dysfunctions associated with cancer. The study is expected to generate large amounts of unprecedented data that could play a role in simplifying personalized treatment for cancer.

"The Sigma-Aldrich CRISPR Core partnership helps accelerate the pace of translational research, removing the design and production hurdles with CRISPR or Zinc Finger Nucleases, hence allowing scientists to focus on their research."
