DCR has reported 24 Ebola cases with 13 deaths
Singapore: As Ebola cases continue to multiply, the Taiwan Center for Disease Control raised the health advisory against travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo from ‘watch' to ‘alert' to arrest further spread of the virus.
As per recent WHO statistics, 3,069 infections and 1,552 deaths have been reported so far, in a massive Ebola outbreak haunting West Africa. The CDC mentioned that out of 24 cases reported in the DCR, 13 were fatal.
CDC emphasized that the travel alert was necessary as the condition of healthcare system in DCR was uncertain. Under Taiwan's travel advisory system, a level 1 'watch' advisory urges travelers to exercise vigilance and take health precautions.
A level 2 'alert' calls for travelers to maintain a high degree of caution and take strengthened protective measures, especially when they visit certain high-risk places.
A level 3 'warning' advises against travel to destinations altogether.
