Are you Depressed; Consume more Vitamin B12
Singapore: A new study conducted by MRC Neuropsychiatric Research Laboratory in Epsom, Surrey, UK, has found that there may be an association between depression and vitamin b12 deficiency.
Vitamin b12 has previously been associated with improved neurological functions as well as mood enhancement. The results of the study was published in an article in US HCG Injections, which is a US-based company that provides weight loss shots such as hcg, b12 and other general wellness vitamins.
The study concluded that the majority of patients who suffered from depression symptoms were low in both folate and vitamin b12. It is common knowledge that alcohol hinders the absorption of nutrients, including b12, which can potentially further exacerbate the situation. Furthermore patients that have a normal level of folic acid and vitamin b12 respond better to treatment than those that have a deficiency.
Low levels of vitamin b12 can occur due to diet, alcoholism or an underlying condition that prevents or hampers the absorption of the vitamin. In order to maintain a normal level of b12 it is important to be sure to consume animal products like milk, fish, beef, chicken and eggs. For those that are on a vegan or vegetarian diet b12 supplementation, such as those found in vitamin b-12 shots, may be an alternative.
