Transgene to develop first human vax with synthetic antigen

Bangalore, Dec 31, 2008: Indian biotechnology company, Transgene Biotek has entered into a commercial and development agreement with Heber Biotec S.A, Havana, Cuba.

The agreement covers the following vaccines; Hib conjugate vaccine, DPT+Hib quadrivalent combination vaccine and DPT+Hib+Hepatitis B pentavalent vaccine.

Further, according to the company, the Hib vaccine, under the present agreement, is the world's first human vaccine with a synthetic antigen.

Initially, the company plans to bring this ready-to-use vaccine into the market, soon after the license is approved by the concerned regulatory authorities.
