Singapore, April 25, 2008: Avesthagen, a knowledge based Life Sciences company from India has launched clinically validated bioactive Teestar aimed to promote wellness through better blood sugar management. Teestar, which is made from 100% natural ingredients, will be available as dietary supplements as well as in cracker categories in third week of May this year. This is the first one of the seven bioActives, Avestagen is working on to hit the market.
Avesthagen used two of its patented technologies to develop the Teestar -Adept a comprehensive database, that brings together traditional medicine with modern systems biology, created under World Banks funding (SPREAD project); and MetaGrid a unique algorithm that enables comprehensive constituent profiling of the plant extracts and thereby helps to maintain batch-to-batch reproducibility of the bioactive.
The release noted that the research and development of Teestar closely resembles that of pharmaceutical actives, wherein the bioactivity and safety are proven at different levels. Teestar was prepared from a single Indian plant mentioned in ayurveda using Avesthagen’s patented technologies. Teestar administration significantly reduced the glycemic load of the food compared to the control both in pre-clinical and clinical studies carried out by independent Clinical Research Organizations INTOX, Pune and Manipal AcuNova, Bangalore, respectively. Teestar is proven to be safe in both studies and has no adverse reactions were noticed during the studies.
Dr Villoo Morawala Patell, Founder, Chairperson and Managing Director of Avesthagen said, “In the field of functional foods, we made next level achievement by introducing Teestar, the product evaluated after understanding science behind activity and designing the clinical studies to prove the concept keeping all parental variables in check using Avesthagen technology”.
