Bangalore, March 17, 2008: GE Healthcare, the $17 billion healthcare business of GE, has appointed Anurag Gupta as Managing Director, Life Sciences, GE Healthcare South Asia.
After his appointment Gupta said, “India has a huge potential for growth in life sciences to take healthcare delivery to the next level. The Life Sciences business is key to driving the transformation of healthcare into an “Early Health” model by helping our customers detect and treat diseases earlier. A thorough understanding of life sciences gives us and our customers the ability to understand disease at its earliest stages and at the molecular level.” This is so apt for the Indian Healthcare delivery system wherein earlier detection of diseases will not only help millions of patients to have their ailments detected earlier, hence saving huge spend on healthcare costs, but also live their lives to the fullest.
“GE Healthcare’s Life Sciences business is bringing a wealth of historical innovation and production know-how to the Indian biopharmaceutical industry,” Anurag said. “We help customers unlock nature’s secrets and develop new medicines. As partners to the world’s major vaccine researchers and producers, we enable faster, more reliable and more efficient research and manufacturing.”
GE Healthcare’s Bangalore-based Fast Trak BioPharma Services provides practical support and advice to the developer of biotech products, in particular biopharmaceuticals. It helps plan, implement and document manufacturing processes, from start-up to routine production, as well as train personnel.
Anurag has had 15 years experience in the healthcare industry in Sales & Customer Services.
Before GE hired him, he was the Vice President of Customer Services at Wipro GE. He also started the Ultrasound Service Operations in Wipro GE Healthcare and has managed Cardiac Cathlab, Nuclear Medicine and CT businesses of Wipro GE Healthcare.
