New Delhi, Aug 16, 2010: To provide a forum to present and discuss the role of key towards realizing India’s potential in R&D and making it a hub of Pharma and Biotech Innovation, The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India's premier business association, with a direct membership of over 8100 organizations from the private and public sectors, is organizing a two-day Life Science Conclave in New Delhi from Aug 18, 2011.
The conclave is also expected to deliberate on best practices for promoting collaboration between academia, industry and clinicians. It will also discuss current state and capability building in different areas of technology, research and regulatory practices through scientific sessions and also on various schemes of Government for promotion of R&D in Pharma/Biotech sector.
The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Mr Gulam Nabi Azad will inaugurate the conference. The event will feature many panel discussions with industry and Government personnel.
The industry will be represented by Dr Anand C Burman, chairman ,CII National Committee on Biotechnology & Chairman, Dabur Ltd, Mr Satish Reddy, managing director and COO, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd, Mr Hari Bhartia, president, Confederation of Indian Industry, co-chairman and managing director, Jubilant Organosys Ltd, Dr Kiran Majumdar Shaw, CMD, Biocon, and Dr Naveen Rao, managing director, MSD.
From the government side, Dr. V M Katoch, director general, ICMR and Secretary, Health Services, Government of India, Mr Ashok Kumar, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemical& Fertilizers
are among those expected to attend the conclave.
Panel discussions on different topics of high relevance like international collaborations, trends and emerging issues in drug, drug interactions, frontiers of drug design and discovery research. The event is expected to draw huge response from the biopharma industry.
