Narayan Kulkarni

Singapore, April 16, 2008: Aubagne, France headquartered Sartorius Stedim Biotech, a leading provider of equipment and services for the development, quality assurance and production processes of the biopharmaceutical industry has set up a technical support center at Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore.

The center offers well-equipped pilot plant station as well as specific training courses and seminars covering theoretical principles and process optimization. Sartorius Stedim Biotech is expected to use this new Technical Support Center to help its major customers in the biopharmaceuticals industry in relocating production to Singapore and to provide on site technical support. The new center will play a key role in transferring the customers' processes from their development centers to their new production sites.

In order to create and test efficient processes, the Technical Support Center has been furnished with ultra-modern equipment. In addition to traditional cell culture reactors, the product portfolio used also includes downstream technology equipment, disposable bioreactors, the latest disposable mixing equipment and fluid management systems in order to perform ultra-modern asceptic processing of biopharmaceutical media on the basis of disposables technologies.

Dr Joerg Lindenblatt, Vice President of Sales, Asia, Sartorius Stedim Biotech said, “With the new Technical Support Center, we offer customers optimum technical support on site with immediate effect. Along the entire process chain, we can simulate production and perform optimization studies. Process Application Service Singapore (PASS) is another important component of our global support network for our customers. It allows us to ensure consistent quality and technical expertise for our global key accounts. As a result, we can significantly improve the safety and efficiency of relocating production sites from Europe and the USA to Singapore in conjunction with our customers."
