Quintiles emerges as the leading CRO in Asia Pacific

Bangalore, June 12, 2007: On June 8, 2007, Frost & Sullivan (F&S) hosted the 2007 Excellence in Healthcare Awards. The event was composed to honor the region’s finest players in the healthcare and research industry companies that have performed par excellence and demonstrated best practices.

Quintiles Transnational’s Asia Pacific unit received three Awards for excellence in customer service. Quintiles received the Multinational Clinical Services Provider of the Year, Multinational Laboratory Services Provider of the Year and Customer Service Leadership of the Year.

Mr Anand Tharmaratnam, Head of Clinical Development, Asia Pacific, and CEO of Quintiles Southeast Asia, attributed the achievement to the company's commitment to its employees and to its customers. “We have made a major effort to become the pharmaceutical employer of choice in the region, and because of that we have the best team in Asia,” said Mr Tharmaratnam. “The team's goal is to use our expertise and world-class technology and processes to become the first choice of our customers in all the services we provide. These three awards are evidence that we are well on the way to achieving that goal.”

Frost & Sullivan said that the awards recognize companies and individuals that have pushed the boundaries of excellence – rising above the competition and demonstrating outstanding performance across Asia Pacific. F&S believes that the 2007 Excellence in Healthcare Awards was aligned to appreciate significant contributions to the society and global health.

In the medical devices category two Singapore-based medical device manufacturers bagged the awards. HealthSTATS International was Singapore’s first homegrown technology driven medical device company that was conferred the Asia Pacific Monitoring Devices Technology of the Year Award. Transmedic, the other Singapore-based company, was awarded the Asia Pacific Medical Device Distributor Company of the Year Award. Siemens Medical was awarded the Medical Imaging Company of the Year Award.

In total, Frost & Sullivan awarded twenty-eight companies from medical devices, healthcare it, medical imaging, drug discovery, biotechnology and clinical diagnostics background.

“These companies have been the leaders in identifying emerging market trends and developing truly creative products to meet the challenges faced in today’s competitive world,” said Ms Reenita Das, Vice President of Frost & Sullivan’s Asia Pacific Healthcare Practice. “The companies that are receiving these awards ultimately create technologies that improve global health. We are honored to recognize these contributions and hope that this will inspire others to develop such innovations in the future,” said Ms Das.
